Baked Pears with Sherry
2 large pears, halved and cored 1/8 teas. orange or almond extract 2 tbsp. slivered almonds sugar to taste
2 teas. butter 1/3 cup cream sherry
Place pear halves in a 9-inch square baking dish. Combine almonds and
butter and sauté until almonds are slightly browned. Add extract to butter/nut
mixture and spoon
a small amount into cavity of each pear half. Sprinkle with sugar; add
sherry.
Bake at 350o
for 30 minutes. Serve hot or cold. Top with sweetened whipped cream if you
choose. Serves 2.
